Obituary for Gertrude Helen Webber (Leach)

Surry -- Gertrude Helen Webber, 96, died Sept. 3, 2018 at and Ellsworth healthcare facility. She was born July 27, 1922 in Surry the daughter of Alvah E. and Lillian (Deviow) Leach.

She made her home in Surry. She was a homemaker and enjoyed being with her children and spending time with her husband Lawrence A. “Andy” Webber. They had a very large vegetable garden that they harvested and canned in season. Gertrude enjoyed people stopping by the house and socialized with them. She was known in the community as the house where the mother’s would gather and the children would be outside playing. After her children were grown she worked at the Wyman’s blueberry factory.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Lisa Bubel of Surry, Billy Webber of Ellsworth, Clyde Webber of Tennessee, Ben Webber of Bangor, Ericka Bryant of Vinalhaven and Brandee Webber of Biddeford; and many great grandchildren, especially, Rebekah and Sue Bubel. She was predeceased by her husband, Andy; 2 sons, Louis and Clyde Webber; and a daughter Donna Leach.

A graveside service will be held 10am, Friday, Sept. 7, 2018 at North Bend Cemetery, Surry with Pastor Robert Maddocks officiating.
